Historic Queen Anne Photos

Recently we have found a trove of historic King County photos on the Internet, over 12,000 provided by Seattle's Museum of History and Industry from its own and other collections. We thank Brooks Burford, '70, for alerting us to this photo cornucopia. We presented, on 1/19, as the first of a series, the MOHAI photo he forwarded, a view of the school in 1940. That photo we retired as we moved on to the photo below at Coe school in 1963. Now we're going to retain photos as we move forward, at least until we run out of space on the server.

Coe Elementary School Kids & Turtle - 1963

This class of Coe Elementary students found their classroom turtle rather a glum spectacle in October, 1963, though the teacher seems in a good mood, and the turtle appears active. The children seem to be about 7 years old, give or take a year, and so would have graduated to the Grizzly zoo by the early '70's. Can anyone help us with the names of any of the kids? Can anyone identify the teacher for us? (Posted 1/21/04)

"In 1963 I was 8 years old at Coe & I don't recognize anyone! The teacher could be Mrs.Mahyle"............................................................................Bev Lange Kushell, '73
